I like this tale. The flight of birds is the envy of people because of a bird's power to see the earth from high.

Today’s story is about a flying contest to pick a qualified Ruler of the Birds. The winner is not the biggest, strongest, or most powerful, the winner is the smallest and clever. What if this was a little female bird instead of a male as portrayed in the male-dominated literature of the 12th and 18th centuries, (just a thought), or, no gender.

Do we really know the gender of the Wren? The female lays the eggs. Both build and sit on the nest, both look for food to feed the chicks, The male and female Wrens look alike.

In the summer when the villagers worked in their fields of grain, dark clouds covered the sun. A cold wind blew hard and fast. The trees bent. Fog surround everything; then a loud thump on the ground.

The farmers, fishermen, and villagers feared and loved the power of the dragons from the sky. These dragons are given credit for good fortune and change by providing rain for crops and fishing. About this time the different Emperors, Lords of Rivers and Lakes, declared that they were related to the mystical, powerful celestial dragons using the respect and honor of the dragons and to provide themselves power with the people.

As a storyteller, I want adults and children to know why Dragons enabled culture and history through the respect gained and the use of the dragons by the Emperors to declaring they power in China. If I misrepresent anything, please let me know.

Faery Rhyonna's Flight

Rhyonna is a faery and flying is the only importance in her life. The beginnings of the story came to me as I ventured to the creek near where I lived as a child. The story re-appeared with  my daughter when she was 8 camping with friends at a lake that had, really had, hundreds of dragonflies; that was 32 years ago. Hand written on scrapes of paper, Rhyonna fluttered in the sun and enchanted my life and finally landed on the pages of a book. 
Rhyonna is the narrator of her healing story with uncomfortable challenges Not the cute image of a faery, Rhyonna is a survivor, a faery who wins her battles!  Rhyonna's Fright at Amazon and Smashword.

Now with the help of NaNoWriMoCamp 2013 in April with the whole month or revisions, Rhyonna's Flight will receive her last polish. In the summer of 2014 with the help of Carla King's Summer boot camp for self-publishing, Rhyonna will have her book finished and on the vast web.  

That was a laugh! 

      Two years go by! A writer have earned is another 'degree in writing'.  First one writes a story which is finish when the characters and plot and sub-plot want a finish, this could take a life time. Then rewrites start: for plot: for character development, character point of view, POV; for characters to drive the plot forward. Then rewrites checking character dialogue; language to be true to characters; the scene development that moves the story forward with dialogue and action from characters. 
       Now to mention the design for the cover and backcover (if a POD, a print on demand) art which can be done by the writer or hired out. For either the writer now becomes an art director, and earns a 'degree in art design'.
      Another two years go by! The writer takes the story for professional editing, for structural strength (a rewrite), copy editor to check line by line word for word (which means another rewrite), and then to show to Beta reads and read at critique groups (more rewrites), and lastly the proof reader for the small mistakes, (hopefully the last rewrite).
     Now to mention starting the IBNS's for various formats (book, epub, kindle, audio), the PCN for the eventual LNNC for registering in Library of Congress for bookstore and libraries to find, and if you have 3 books the P-CIP for library cataloging, and of course the copyright.
      Another year goes by! The writer now must learning (or pay professionals) for the formats for the the various e-publishing opportunities, and all their possibilities, PDF, EPUB, MODI, PDB, RTF, LRF.  The writer earns a 'degree in formatting'. 
     Not to mention starting the marketing: social media (Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, pages on professional sites, joining discussion group in organizations sites, podcast interviews, radio, TV, YouTube videos, enewsletters, ads on social media, speaking engagements, fairs, conferences), blogging, maintaining a website, etc. and etc. The writer becomes a business manager, with a 'degree in marketing'

---> The once WRITER is now AUTHORPRENUER! And life is never the same!

The best part is the second book is so much eaiser! because the writer learned and knows all the pros and cons for the whole processes especially the pros in the profession~!  There is too much good advise from professionals to mention any of them.  Just get out there and listen, take notes, and make mistakes, each mistake is worth a writers efforts.

 

What is the story, heroine vs antagnist?

Rhyonna is the heroine who loves to fly. Fast, impulsive, driven, passionate about flying, and survivor is this Faery. When Rhyonna flies to find the Junior Patrol, she is captured by creatures from a fungus realm. The antagonist is a monstrous, devouring mutant mold, who plans to eat everything sweet.

I rewrote Rhyonna's story in the write-a-thon sponsored by the Clarion Foundation in 2011 after my computer wiped off the story in 1999. I cried a lot, and did have an old version for 1990. I started the story when I was a child, I have the first illustration and with new drawings for a new version of the story in 1986 for my daughter and her friends. 

Over the years with many rewrites with more adventures for the Faery , whose name is now RHYONNA. And subpolts including familiars, teaching flying, and her friends. In 2012 finished the story - and with more edits from friends and professional editors, to e-publish a paperback and e-book.
